HAZIPUR LINEAGE   ...Expand

Hazipur, a remote village on the bank of a tributary of the river Brahmaputra, was located about 13 miles (21 Km) west of Kishorganj via Husainpur by a typical rural road. Another approach was from Ghafargaon railway station that was about 5 miles (8 Km) from Hazipur. Both Kishorganj and Ghafargaon could be reached from Hazipur on foot. Otherwise, transports available were bicycles, rickshaws and horse-drawn carts. The available data on the Hazipur lineage has the late Chandiprasad Sarkar at the top. He and his descendants up to Mukundaram had their ancestral place at Singrail, 10 miles (16 Km) away from Hazipur. Mukundaram’s son Jairam bought vast landed property at Hazipur and settled down there. The ancestral place of Jairam’s descendants, therefore, should be reckoned as Hazipur.
